Cracked concrete repair seals, stabilizes, or replaces damaged concrete on slabs, driveways, patios, and foundations. The right fix depends on what is actually happening under the surface. Cosmetic sealing runs a few hundred dollars; structural repair tied to a moving foundation can reach several thousand. A proper evaluation tells you which one you have.
Quick Facts
| Typical cost | $400–$1,500 for surface/cosmetic repair; $3,000+ if tied to foundation movement |
| Timeline | Half a day for sealing; 1–3 days for structural work |
| Best for | Slab cracks, driveway and patio cracks, foundation hairlines, settled sections |
| Warranty | Warranty coverage depends on the repair type, site conditions, and the terms of the signed agreement |
Signs You Need Cracked Concrete Repair
Not every crack is a problem. Concrete shrinks slightly as it cures, and thin hairlines are common and often harmless. What matters is whether the crack is stable or still moving. Watch for these:
- Cracks wider than about a quarter inch, or wide enough to slip a coin into
- One side of a crack sitting higher than the other (a trip lip you can feel with your foot)
- Cracks that keep getting longer or wider month to month
- Stair-step cracks in brick or block above the slab
- Doors and windows that stick, or gaps opening over doorways
- Water pooling in a low spot on a driveway or patio after rain
- Cracks that reopen every summer, then settle down in a wet fall
Around Round Rock, that last one is telling. The Taylor Black Clay under most local slabs swells when it rains and shrinks in drought. A dry summer followed by a wet fall is when a lot of new cracks show up. That soil movement, not the concrete itself, is usually the real story.
How Cracked Concrete Repair Works
Here is what you will see and hear on site:
- Inspection. We look at the crack pattern, check elevations across the slab, and figure out whether the concrete moved or the soil under it moved. This is the step that decides everything else.
- A plain-English explanation. You get a clear read on what is actually happening and clear repair options, not a scare pitch.
- The repair. For a stable cosmetic crack, we clean it out and fill it with a flexible sealant or epoxy. For a crack caused by a settled area, sealing alone will not hold, so we address the movement first, then repair the surface.
- Cleanup and walkthrough. We walk the finished work with you so you know exactly what was done.
If the cracking is tied to the foundation, repair may involve stabilizing the settled areas with piers before any patching. In that case, an engineer-reviewed repair plan may be part of the job. Sealing a crack that is still moving just hides it until it opens again.
Cracked Concrete Repair Cost
These are typical Central Texas ranges, not quotes. Every slab is different, and a free estimate is the only way to price yours.
| Repair type | Typical range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmetic crack sealing | $400–$800 | Stable hairlines and small cracks |
| Epoxy / polyurethane injection | $600–$1,500 | Wider stable cracks, some load transfer |
| Slab section replacement | $1,000–$3,000+ | Broken driveway or patio panels |
| Structural repair (foundation-related) | $3,000–$12,000+ | Piers plus surface repair when the slab has settled |
What moves the price:
- Cause. A cosmetic crack is cheap. A crack caused by a settling foundation is not, because you are paying to stabilize the ground, not just fill a line.
- Length and width of the cracking and how much concrete is affected.
- Access. Tight side yards, landscaping, and limited work room add labor.
- Severity. How far the area has settled and how many piers, if any, are needed.
- Square footage for replacement work.
We do not do “contact us for pricing.” You will get a real number after we see it.
Repair vs. Full Replacement
Repair is the right call when the concrete is structurally sound and the crack is stable or the underlying movement can be stabilized. Sealing and injection are far cheaper than tear-out and keep a usable surface.
Replacement makes more sense when a slab is broken into several loose pieces, badly heaved, or crumbling from age. At that point, patching costs add up and never look right. An honest inspection will tell you which side of that line you are on. We would rather seal a $600 crack than sell you a slab you do not need.

FAQ
Is a crack in my concrete serious?
Not always. Thin hairlines from normal curing are usually cosmetic. Cracks that are widening, uneven side to side, or paired with sticking doors are worth an evaluation. The width and whether it is still moving matter more than the length.
Can you just fill the crack?
If the crack is stable, yes. If it was caused by a section that has settled, filling it only hides the problem until it reopens. We check the cause first so the repair actually holds.
Why do my concrete cracks come back every year?
Central Texas expansive clay swells with rain and shrinks in drought. That seasonal soil movement flexes the slab, so cracks that were filled can reopen. Managing drainage and, when needed, stabilizing the foundation is what breaks that cycle.
Do I need a foundation repair or just concrete repair?
That is exactly what an inspection determines. If the cracking is limited to the surface and the elevations are fine, it is a concrete repair. If the slab has settled, it is a foundation issue and the surface repair comes second.
How long does cracked concrete repair take?
Cosmetic sealing is often a half-day job. Structural work involving piers and surface repair usually runs one to three days depending on access and the number of piers.
